Marimbamania! is a culturally-based musical performance presenting music and marimbas from around the world. Virtuoso marimbist David Hall brings 20 years of experience to this unique educational program. Musical selections from South America, Mexico, Africa, Japan, Germany, and the USA are performed on authentic marimbas and vintage xylophones. Audiences interact through singing, dancing, rhythmic clapping and a Q & A session.
"The students were captivated by the amazing instruments and his energy and enthusiasm. We highly recommend this show! " Forest Hills Public Schools, MI
Marimbaman David Hall enjoys sharing his passion for the marimba with audiences both young and old! He performs on four unique mallet instruments- the Mexican Marimba, African Balafon, 1920's Xylophone, and modern Marimba- as well as a Japanese Taiko drum and African Djembe. Musical styles range from Ragtime to Classical, and Brazilian to Baroque. Different costumes are worn for each separate musical style/culture presented. Students are actively involved throughout the program- singing, drumming and using shakers during the African song, dancing with Sombreros in the Mexican Hat Dance, rhythmically clapping and vocalising in the Japanese piece, and asking great questions during the Q & A session!
"I especially enjoyed the way you included songs and costumes from cultures around the world. It was extremely entertaining and interactive" West Side Christian School, MI
